Camellia Kick Off

Hi I have a young Camellia Kick Off which was planted about a month ago. Since being planted it has, in the past week, shed all of its leaves except a couple and all of its many flowers and buds. The recent winds didn't help but they weren't THAT strong and there was no sign of disease to the leaves. The flowers turned slightly brown around the edges prior to falling. Other unopened buds simply fell off leaving behind the two bare stems seen in the picture. Is this normal for this to happen?

No , its the exact opposite of what should happen.

Can you see if the stem and branches are still alive?

( scrap the bark with a sharp knife to check for green living tissue)

    Hmmm.

I'd lift it and check the roots.

If you followed planting instructions...take it back!

I've checked the stems and branches. All a healthy green underneath. Just noticed that it seems to be producing new leaf shoots. Will leave it and see what it decides to do with itself. How odd!

Probably suffering from 'transplant shock' then and sounds like it is recovering. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
