sowing crocosmia

  • I planted mine in a couple of pots in any old random, leftover compost. I would have weeded them out as grass otherwise! image It was probably around Octoberish but if you keep them in a sheltered spot they should come ok.

    Mike Allen says:

"Planting" these corms.  Anytime as long as the soil isn't frozen.  It may take a year or two for flowers to appear.

    See original post

The original OP was from 2015 I think he’s probably ‘planted’ them by now.

NewBoy wants info on sowing seeds. I wouldn’t sow them directly in the garden at this time of the year..

    Start them off in pots.

  • Hi Mike

Quite right. Hopefully they are now flourishing in their garden

Mike...yes its seeds not bulbs. ....good spot

I think I will wait till about march and sow some in a pot and some out where I want them to flourish

I suppose the question is  CAN I PLANT OUT / TRANSPLANT THE SEEDLINGS once they have germinated in my conservatory

They will take a couple of year before they will be big enough to plant out, first year they look like blades of grass.

Grow them on until they look like a plant you‘d buy from the garden centre.

I was about to say that if you want instant flowers, split the pot, but reading your OP again it sounds like the seeds have just accidentally slipped into your pocket. ?,  it’s a very lengthy process. Growing these type of plants from seeds, I’ve got about 100 baby Agapanthus I know I won’t get flowers on the for years. Crocosmia are a bit quicker but don’t expect instant results.

Seed growing is a waiting game.

There‘s a good article here that may help you. This is exactly what I would do,

  • Hi all

The original post was Crocosmia bulbs and now its gone to seeds. A bit confusing when you read the OP as you just comment on that
