It all depends on whee you live,I live in Redditch I wouldn't put mine out yet. From experience I've just started mine so I can plant out at end of may. You may get away with it if you use some fleece. When they get going they grow very fast.

Only put my seeds in last week, probably plant out at the start of June.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • I live in Brighton Sussex . We have planted out runner beans, started off in a greenhouse in our community garden. They are  in a raised bed and we have put a cut off section from a water bottle around each plant. They seem to be fine so far.

I planted out mine last weekend, then the cold winds came.  I'm in the South-East.  They're a bit battered, but still OK though.

hi there; my beans are getting tall in my kitchen so i planted 2 out yesterday, put in 2 stakes and covered in fleece. ground well and truly soaked up here in scotland so going to leave like that and see what happens over coming week. if they prosper, i'll probably plant the others out next weekend but with fleece covering overnight.
