grafting
in Plants
sorry saying this each time, but when i worked in greenhouses ,we would bud and graft most things, even tomatoes, but we were told you cannot graft or bud a Pelegonium,I always wondered why so when i became a member of the royal horticulture society i asked the same question ,and was told it is impossible ,but last year in america a private man, grafted two different colours onto one root ,sold his idea ,now it is all over the web ,have a look,so when they say it is impossible their is always away,

When someone says that something is impossible, it often means that no-one has worked out how to do it yet. I don't think we should ever be put off by received wisdom but should have a go, just for a laugh if nothing else.
yes it is quiet easy ,i now have done it ,cleft grafting ,you take a strong any type ,choose your colours ,you want to graft onto .cut off the top of your root section ,cut across the top .your cutting should be shaped each side to push in .then push them into the cut, they start to grow.you will then have three different colours on one root,it is so easy all over america they now growing them ,i will get back and tell you more,
OK, so now you can. I'm just not sure why you'd want to! I can understand the logic behind family fruit trees for people with small gardens, but otherwise I prefer to mix and match my plants in varying ways according to need or the preference of the time!
Perhaps it favours those with limited space who would like a range of flower shades.
now we have found we can graft Pelegoniums cant you see it opens up more doors for us to make better flowers, there are like apples and pears fruit trees which have trees with large roots which can carry more water and feed to the crop, but have no good fruit ,we graft our good fruit to these roots which give us bigger and better fruit ,same with flowers we could have a Pelegonium Tree ,or Shrub ,So many more things we can do .I bet the Royal Horticultue Society RHS Chelsea,.Will have a Grafted Pelegonium in there Stalls Next Year ,
