taking cuttings
in Plants
1952 working in a garden nursery, greenhouse plating,we would take grape vine cuttings using just one bud in a pot,and just leaves from other plants, now can you tell me what other plants you can take cuttings from using just one veg bud ,or one leaf .or from a bark

Potentially any plant if you're using micropropagation techniques. That's how rare plants are kept going by the professionals. Grafting buds is often used for fruit trees and roses. If a new rose is bred, they need to make several thousand plants available for sale very quickly and taking small grafts if the quickest way.
As a humble gardener, I've used single leaves from succulents and cacti and slices of begonia leaves.
You can use single leaves from African violets (Saintpaulia) either single leaves or slices from Streptocarpus. Not quite the same but still propagation, you can use single bits of root for root cuttings of lots of plants, single scales from lily bulbs or quarter daffodil bulbs (as Carol showed on a recent GW) to grow new ones
where can i find out more on micro propagation techniques, grafting buds for roses
