Discoloured leaves

Hello, We have planted a Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' in our courtyard here in Spain and I'm a little worried that the leaves are not as dark as they should be. It is planted in a decent hole filled with goat manure and well watered. Has anyone any idea why the leaves are pale and greenish?

Bumping this up the list for any prunus experts out there.

Maybe it isn't a prunus cerasifera nigra.

What colour are the leaves?  With a lot of purple leaved trees the new leaves have a lot more green in them when they first unfurl (for maximum photosynthesis, I expect).  They have a salmony tint, darkening in the sun.

If it's planted in the shade the colour will be less dark, again because the tree needs to photosynthesise.

But if they're not at all red, I guess Ceres is right, and you've been sold the wrong tree.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
