Floppy Viola

ommthreeommthree Posts: 314

Hi all,

One of my viola cornutas has gone kind of floppy at the stem. It was sown last autumn and has been flowering for a few weeks. But now it's sort of lying down on its side, and I'm worries it might snap off at the soil line. Any suggestions as to whether I should worry? Should I stake it perhaps?

Thanks!

Cut it back by half - it'll bush out image

When you say floppy, do you mean it has fallen over or it's gone limp like it's dying?

    Thanks Dove.

Nutcutlet, it's just kind of lying on its side. The leaves, stems and flowers seem perfectly healthy.

OK, cut it as Dove suggested, eventually they form a thick mat and don't fall over so much

Thanks both. Did that, and it's definitely less floppy now.
