  I think we need to wait until those leafbuds open so we can have a look at the leaves.

  I first noticed the difference in the stems and buds in winter and thought I'd wait for the leaves to open! Can't recall noticing them last year, which suggests that they have nothing too offer! Looks like the pruning saw will be out at some point
