What can I plant?

Chiad FhearChiad Fhear Posts: 17

Hi

I have a "bland" area at the front of the house - facing north-east, partially shaded and exposed to the wind - where I have some small "heathers" planted, but it needs something.

Can I have a suggestion or two please?

    Thanks Verdun

I reckon all of that lot will fill the area nicely, but always open to more suggestions.

Verdun has come up with great ideas ...as  always image

Assuming the ground isn't too dry, I'd add white Hydrangeas if you have the room and also Dicentras. I have the white one which is great for a shady spot as it stands out on  a dull day. The spring flowering Spirea 'Bridal Wreath' is also good for a shower of white flowers at this time of year. Many of the Hostas with good variegation are ideal too along with Foxgloves and don't forget spring bulbs. Most Narcissus and Daffs will thrive happily and snowdrops should love it. I have a similar area and use many of these plants image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Thanks Fairygirl

Just back from the Garden Centre and £60 lighter image   That said, what I managed to get has made a big difference already ... and the rain is now doing some watering-in for me!  I'm going to attempt a cutting of the variegated euonymus from the side garden just for the fun of it and, assuming it works, I already know where I'm going to plant it!
