    Hi guys!

I've uploaded a picture of my lawn which myself and my brother laid around 6 to 8 weeks ago.

All proper preparation work was carried out before hand, the lawn was then laid and everything was great.

Its had plenty of water, had various cuts and was growing very well.

However, about 4 weeks after been laid i started to notice the yellow/brown marking which has now become patches. I am now starting to see more and more each day. A lot of the blades of grass have now become yellow and dead.

There has been nothing split or sprayed on the lawn (petrol, weed killer). We have no pets.

I havent fed the lawn with anything. I wasn't sure if new turf only down 8 weeks needed anything. If it does could someone please recommend anything?

Plus has anyone any idea what is causing my grass to die???

Thanks for reading and all help would be really appreciated.

hi sanjy67, no all the cuts have been at a medium height. i was aware of the frost so made sure to keep the mower high.

HI verdun, there are many cats in my area, i did think that but it doesnt explain the rest of the yellow and dead blades of grass. Im wandering does it have a disease.

The very first signs of leather jackets?

Wasn't sure myself Verdun, so I looked it up:

"From August until mid-May they (grubs) are eating the roots of your lawn, resulting in brown tufty patches, resembling Chafer damage, but looking its worst in March/April"

    https://ladybirdplantcare.co.uk/leatherjacket.html

"Leatherjackets feed on and damage grass roots through autumn and winter, but first tell tale signs of damage do not appear until spring when feeding accelerates and cumulative effects become apparent. In spite of the now warm moist conditions growth by damaged plants is sluggish and yellow patches of stressed and dying turf start to appear."

His middle picture seems to show irregularly spaced holes where the birds were having a search around.  No idea, just a guess.. but it might be worth cutting an 'x' and pulling back a bit of turf for a look at the roots.
