I made hypertufa alpine planters using the polystyrene fish boxes as a mould. Covered them inside and out with the mix and they lasted for years. Your local fish and chip shop might get their fish delivered in them. That's where I got mine. They were about 18inches by 12 inches. And about 8 inches deep.

Thanks hogweed - I've been on YouTube all evening and watched some good videos. Ive also seen videos of using a cemented rhubarb leaf as a water feature. Just need a bit of spare time to myself now....
I made concrete planters and they have held up very well. I usually either use a 3:1 sand and cement mix or 3:1 ballast and cement mix. Heres the link to my post:

Have been thinking about something like this to repair a broken bird bath. The stem's OK but the bowl disintegrated. (Don't think it's called a stem) That's gardening for you.
