My sister came with these from a special veggie store. She forgot to ask what vegetable they where and variety. Can anybody help to identify them?

Or Green Zebra for the tomato - if they stay green when ripe.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks for the answers. @Pansyface it seems that you were right, about both vegetables.

Overall thanks to all for helping!

    I'm collecting different vegetable/fruit seeds.

I am planning to cross pollinate some varieties of tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables. I am also growing, some un-usual vegetables, as a gardening hobby.
My sister gave me the strange looking vegetables, that she bought in a store. I couldn't identify them, so therefore i asked this forum for help.

So yeah @pansyface, thats what i am doing. Good that you did identify the veggetables, thanks.image

There are all sorts of weird Asian veg, tinda and doodhi come to mind. There is another one that is long and thin, and ridged, sort of like a runner bean on steroids. You can see them in shops in places like Southall and Leicester.

Bitter gourd, or karela, is very bitter. Oddly enough. Maybe you'd figured that out. The chinese eat it stuffed and sliced.

Did you try sweet tamarind? Very tasty, sort of orange like. I think tamarind can be grown here, in the south anyway.
