On the good advice of folks on here in the past, not only have I gotten in touch with the suppliers of plants advertised in the GW magazine, I also got in touch with the magazine itself. Telling them that I was shocked to see that they were allowing such shoddy plant sellers to offer below standard plants.
I had a reply right away and they got in touch with the suppliers for me and sorted it all out. I also got an apology, I can't remember who the suppliers were but if the plants were advertised via GW then I would certainly let them know.
I have had total rubbish from T & M , VanMeuwen (sister company of T&M) and J Parker that I would have nothing to do with any of them again!
GC go to REVIEW CENTRE type in Thompson and Morgan sign up and post of your experience!
They will respond to you, more than they do to e-mails.
I had a problem with Anemone Wild Swan plants I got from T&M, they all died!
No reply to e-mails but when I posted on Review Centre I got an immediate reply which was to let them know the order number and they would replace them!
Unfortunately I had not kept it so had to forgo their offer!
So always keep your invoice and order numbers for ever as necessary!
Anyway good luck, just keep after them until they respond positively!
also do as i did and contact T & M on their facebook page, replied straight away about two damaged plants got sent out 48 new plants a couple of days later
I must admit. apart from seeds ordered from ebay, I never get mail order plants. I like to go to nurseries, (I go to Reighton, near Scarboro at least twice a year}. They have more or less the same plants much cheaper. We also have a wonderful GC in Beverley, which grows most of their own stuff, and are much cheaper than B&Q etc.
Hello Oldtyke do you live in Beverley? I lived in Beverley years until I was in my teens and still miss it. I attended the Beverley Girls High School (very traditional then), lived in St Leonard's Road and had a weekend job at the Beverley Arms. I go back from time to time and always visit the famous Nelly's. Lovely town, lovely Beverley people.
I have purchased plugs from GW magazine in the past and being new to plug planting by post thought that the tiny plantlets was what to expect.T&M being the company most often offered by the magazine. I have had a sizable failure rate and in some cases total failure.BUT I was recommended a n online nursery Brookside Nurseries and gave them a try they emailed conformation of my order immediately ,advised when they would be available for posting ,again when they had left their nursery, the plants arrive d as they had advised ,really good condition and size
I have no doubts about ordering from them again just disappointed Verdun kept quiet about them until most of my spring plants were chosen
I've taken them up on many offers and on the whole have been pleased, when I have complained they have replaced with no questions.......until today! Took them up on an order of some geranium 'Rozanne' jumbo plugs, too my surprise what has been sent are some bedding geraniums
Has taken about 20 mins on the phone too explain, they tried to convince me that this is what they look like. That's funny as I have a 'Rozanne' that looks very different I told them. They then tried too say that plants may be a new hybrid of a geranium and a pelargonium!
have had too send email photos of the plants and also the one in my garden too prove my point. They even included aftercare instructions for bedding plants!
I've not got anything against t & m, in the past any problems I've had were quickly rectified with no questions. It was when they tried too convince me that the 'Rozanne' they were selling could be a different plant than other suppliers! "really?, you sell a different version of a famous cultivar? Chelsea plant of the centenary a few years back." They then went and spoke too a manager and still tried the lies!
I'm glad it isn't just me, I received my 'garden ready' plants they were actually posti plugs last week and they didn't look great when they arrived and I have potted them on and watered them and they 40% of them have gone brown and wilted and I haven't done anything wrong. I've kept them watered before I potted them on as I couldn't do it straight away! I wasn't very happy the way they have turned out.
