Is it possible to propogate a weigelia ?

Peanuts3Peanuts3 Posts: 759

My neighbour has a lovely weigelia that is hanging over the fence tempting me...  I bought one too but it turns out it is the slower growing varigated variety.

Is it possible to propogate a cutting from my neighbours one and if so how would I do it ?

Thank you.

I have Carnival.. never thought to propagate it though.  No harm potting up the prunings.. thanks for the information!

thank you for all of these responses.  i'm eyeing up the plant as still in flower,  daft question but i assume you keep the cutting outside do you?

also do you put the cutting in the corner of a pot? i've seen this lots when they do propagating on GW.  i assume worth trying to do a few and hope one of them takes...

    thank you.
