moving aquilegias

sara haywoodsara haywood Posts: 143

Three of my aquilegias have finally flowered, two pinks and a purple. My tallest and most floral is hidden out of view (self seed) are they easy to move and if so when is best?

Thanks Sara.

Thanks Rose mummy.  It is such a pretty plant, I would like to be able to see it from the kitchen. I will give it a try when the seed head forms, ready for next year.

Wait until it finishes flowering, cut it down, and then move with as much of the root ball as possible.  Water in well. It should soon resprout.

    OR

Mark the one you want to move. It will die down in winter to a fleshy rootstock. As it starts to sprout in Spring, move it to where you want it and water it in well.
