    I grow Salvia "Midnight Blue", which looks similar.  Just as Verdun said.. sunny well drained soil.  Mine is growing very happy in a raised pile of sand.  They are fairly tough drought tolerant plants.

    Thanks guys! Hoping to use these in our school wildlife garden, are they good for bees/butterflies?
