Bugs on Vibernum Opulus
Hi there, I am a complete beginner! I have 2 Vibernum plants which have clusters of little black bugs around the tips/underneath the flowering heads and leaves.. I did take a photo but do not seem able to upload! Is anyone able to tell me what these might be and how I can get rid of them without harming the plant? Many thanks in advance x

Hi Cloudfairy
Photos would be good - to upload a photo you need to click on the green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your post.

They are almost certain to be black aphids... the Viburnum opulus is a magnet for them. In my garden it is the only plant that has them and it has like millions of them... I spray them with a bit of soapy water, since I try to do all organic as much as possible. It helps - a bit - although it does not solve the problem completely. I think a well established plant will not suffer much from them. A young one can get quite a bit of a set back. In the worse case, use pyrethrum
I too had the black bugs on my Viburnum last year, so this year I sprayed the plant with a chemical just as the leaves were opening and it seems to have done the trick, bug free so far.
