problems with seeds
I live in the north of England. In the past I have successfully raised seeds in my greenhouse. This year I tried in my poly tunnel, planting tomatoes, cabbage, sprouts, cucumber, broccolli. They all germinated but did not grow on. Is this a case of timing

It might be but could be low temperatures at night. My greenhouse stays several degrees warmer at night than my poly tunnel according to identical max-min thermometers. Tomatoes and cucumbers in particular don't like going below 5C as an absolute minimum and preferably 10C. The other thing might be light, depending on what type of poly tunnel you have. Mine is the type with green reinforcing mesh and it definitely gets less light inside than the greenhouse and that is important early in the year when plants are just starting off.
Hi Welly
Think Bob is correct
I'm in S.Yorks and I germinate and grow on toms & cumbers indoors and then move to an unheated GH, we have had overnight temperatures in GH varying from 1C to 10C in the last week.
Do you think if I re-seed things will catch up. I hate having to buy plants as I had to do so last year through having a late start after greenhouse got blown down in severe gales and had to build poly tunnel.
