To be honest if I wanted an academic discussion on the theory of knowledge; or the alleged death of books/written publications, I'd be on the TES site or some other more suitable arena... or indeed back at uni. As it is this forum appears to be serving its purpose.
I am still wondering where the opening poster is, as to open a post to pose a proposition then disappear seems rather odd to say the least and smacks of trolling at worst.
LittleMissSunshine, I you stay around you will learn the ways of this particular poster. As I say above, it is maybe a mistake to encourage some posters by replying!

The internet is the written form, but one published online rather than in paper. It therefore makes no difference.
A book is published and then takes time, many years normally, to update. So can be out of date very quickly.
The internet can be updated and edited as many times as one needs and on forums like this very collaborative rather than the work of one person.
So if I were to reason what is a superior source of information then it is the internet.
