FROG OR TOAD

I regularly have frogs visiting my garden, but am unsure if this one is a frog or toad. Can anyone identify please?  Photo attached. many Thanks,

Fred

  • I'm not an expert but I'd say frog......it's not 'ugly' enough to be a toad, it's quite pretty......I may of course be wrong but 50/50 chance of being right image

I would say frog - the skin looks smooth and I can't see the lumps behind the eye sockets that toads have.  But on the other hand his face isn't as pointy as our frogs image

But you don't usually see toads in water - and their skin is usually dry and warty.

    He/she does have unusal markings

The markings are what surprised me as my usual frogs have few markings.
