Help identifying lawn weed
I'm new to the forum.
I am hoping some kind person can identify the lawn weed on the photo above. There have been large patches of it in my back lawn for a few years, I am not a lawn perfectionist, but as it grows red through spring and early summer, I would like to try and get rid of it. I would really like to know what it is and the best type of lawn weedkiller to use.
I live in North Worcestershire and I have seen similar weeds growing locally over the years, but normally larger and in clumps.
Many thanks for your help in advance and enjoy the bank Holiday weekend,
Patrick

I think its sheep sorrell. It is the worst weed in my flowerbeds
. Forever trying to dig it out, but it has running roots which get everywhere, and are quite invisible in the soil.
not sure of the best way to get rid of it in a lawn apart from lots of mowing - others might know
I'm told that in the old days they used to eat it to fight off scurvy
Thanks for your quick replies!
I am not sure what Russian vine leaves looks like. Here's another picture, with a better look at the leaves.
Thanks again.
Looking at the net I thinks its Sheeps Sorrell too, Bistort has a different flower.
Thank you so much for your help.

I'd try googling sheep sorrel images - that should help you see what you've got

Thanks again for all of your help.
Enjoy the long weekend.

Definitely not Bistort, which is a common wild flower where I live.
