Planting apple trees ?

Hi Just got a dwarf apple tree (Malus domestica junagold). It has tiny fruit where the blossom is. A lot of people say that I should remove those fruit in the first year. Why is this a good idea? Also there are two branches growing parallel upwards only an inch apart. Should I cut one of the branches out? If so when, now or wait till autumn? Thanks

  • I love your description Pansyface,

  • Hi Pansyface.

I'm not sure how old the tree is, its a little under 1 metre tall and there are about 6 branches coming from the trunk with leaves at the end.

The fruitlets were already on the tree when I bought it, but as you said I will remove them.

    thanks
