Trouble growing borage alba
I've tried sowing it a few different ways with seed compost / normal compost. In the dark and with low light levels and nothing seems to work. The seeds are a few years old, but were kept cool and dry. Anyone have any tips? I'm thinking that either the seeds batch is off or a dud.

I'd get some new seed and direct sow

PS. A small plant might be as cheap as a packet of seed, it would set seed and you'd have it forever

Mine grew fine, shallow sown in damp compost on a windowsill propagator. Likely the seed was too old. You should be fine to try again with fresh if you want if fair flies up once it's gotten going.
