best front of border plant?
Hi everyone, I usually use lobelia crystal palace bedding for front of my little border as my misses likes blues and purples but this year I'm trying to do mostly perennials we both quite liked the idea of campanula portenschlagiana but everything I read says different flowering times when and how long do they flower? As I'd like it to flower most the summer to keep up with the other perennials, i thought about geraniums to but not sure yet any ideas? Thanks Sam

try white allisum in the front as its a great edging plant. But for a different take on that you can interplant it with Lobelia (bush). we did that last year and it gave a lovely show of colour .After that try out Gazania. this flower is very long flowering and gives beautiful colour. it will flower from about May right up to October. it is very tolerant of drought conditions.flowers close up when weather is dull and keep open during bright spells. It is tolerant of cold conditions and will not have a problem down to 1c

Also don't forget to put in a bit of aubretia - lots of varieties around these days too. Like Verdun mentions, I use a lot of heucheras now.
Fabulous daisies all summer.

@Sam, you don't say how small is your "little border". If you have enough room I'd recommend a lovely blue geranium with an extra long blooming time. Planted 3 specimens in my garden last summer and looking forward to seeing them in bloom any time soon.
