Leather jackets more likely. Photograph one before you squidge it.
In the sticks near Peterborough
There was one big fella which I thought could be a leather jacket about 3/4inch and fat the others about a dozen or more were only half the size and thinner sorry chucked them all in the dyke but when I rake over tomorrow I'll take pics if there's more.Really hope it's leather jackets somehow they don't seem so bad
At least you haven't squished them
Vine weevil is usually c shape , cream, an orange spot on one end.these need a good
squish
I chucked them in the dyke do you reckon they swim
(I find squishing a bit distasteful
)
More likely to be cockchafer grubs. My lawn was full of them. Birds love them. Leather jackets as said are also likely.
Vine weevils favour certain plants such as my strawberries, fnarr fnarr.
