My father in law left his dahlias in the ground for over 20+ years and they flowered year after year with no problems at all.

Mine will be staying in the ground Verdun, they seem to be ok so far and I love them.image

I'm in the NW - potted mine up about a week or so ago and put them in the GH. Some have tiny shoots.

As a back up I bought 6 small plants, £2.99, just couldn't walk past them at the GC. After being potted up they are doing really well, a couple have flower budsimage.

I left mine in the ground in Hants, but the "soil" was virtually builders's sand left over from the building.

I wouldn't dare leave them in the ground here in Devon with heavy rain and even heavier clay.

    Devon.
