I have my strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries all together in a raised bed. It keeps the yard tidy, above all things. Makes it easier to mow and weed too.
The blackberries and raspberries are grown along the same two wire trellis, each on their own end. It doesn't matter to me if they eventually intermingle, although the blackberry I have is a bit more thuggish and faster growing than the raspberry, so I may prune out some if they begin to take over the raspberry side. The strawberries I grow along the edge of the raised bed. As the canes are trained up to the trellis, this allows plenty of space for their low growth. I can easily reach over them to tend the canes. I mulch with grass clippings and mowed/chopped up leaves to suppress weeds.
My best cane plants were potted.. so you can plant those any time of year really. I've never had much luck with bare rooted canes, mine always seem to die despite extra attention and care. The potted plants just take off like a storm and produce the first year.
