I would say Nut is correct with the weed. I would take everything out of the container and plant the little variagated shrub in the ground, or at at least a big pot to itself.
Edited to add, you really only need about 4 or 5 grains of slug pellets to do the trick around each hosta.

1. A type of fern, possibly something good, so keep it.
2. Definite weed, remove all of it
3. Tree seedlings of some kind, possibly a willow variety.
The one with the reddish orange tip looks like sorrel
and I think the willow is Salix caprea

Thanks Lyn, this is the first time I have ever grown hostas. I got worried as I found lots of little chomp marks when they started emerging
