Can you please tell me what was threatening my clematis ? They looked like hundreds of tiny spiders . Thanks Wendy .

That's what they are - a family of baby spiders - they'll do no harm at all to your clematis
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
