Cats in gardens
I am Engineering student and my final year project is the Cat Scarecrow. A device that senses motion and then sprays water in that direction to scare away cats and other unwanted animals.
It would be a massive help if you could take 30 seconds to complete my short survey (4 multiple choice questions). I am just trying to find out roughly how much people would pay for such a device.
just use the link below and it will take you direct to the survey.

Please feel free to ask and questions or share any thoughts on the subject
Thanks in advance

ive done it for you.
cats and foxes are annoying when they dig up bulbs(foxes) and just holes in general, your device sounds like a good idea
Hi, I have one but can't see your link...
P.s I paid around £40 but just looked on Amazon and they appear to have gone up to £70-80 ... not sure I would have tried it at that price
I have two devices, both solar powered. One emits a fixed frequency at a fixed volume. The other has dials to set the frequency and mode, and the sensitivity. It can have some LEDs flashing and/or sound. Both use a PIR motion detector. Whatever you do, don't design a battery powered device. I had one. Replacing the batteries was such a pain it was not used. The problem is it has to be waterproof, so it used screws and a gasket on the battery cover.
With this sort of device, if you can convince people a) it works, b) it lasts, and c) it can be left alone, they would spnd a fair bit in my view. Cat turds are such a disgusting nasty problem, what is £30 or more for something that lasts a few years?
Done the survey for you, I had a problem with a specific neighbours cats in the front and back garden last year and up to march this year, Which forced me into having to buy a motion sensor jet sprinkler, I honestly cant recommend them enough, Once it scared the specific cat off once it hasn't been back again. The problem is it wasn't so much the cat turds it was the digging up and urinating on the plants, It was causing me so much trouble killing off sentimental valuable plants and leaving mulch and soil all over the patio every morning. The tipping point was when my niece picked up the cat mess and that really upset me as it can be quite dangerous stuff. I love cats there my favourite animal, I have a house cat who is my pride and joy, He is toilet trained. I paid £20 for the defenders device on amazon, And give the product 10/10, It's taken a lot of stress away I am very OCD with my cottage garden and it was killing very sentimental plants, And cleaning up soil off my immaculate patio everyday was getting so tedious. Anyone with the same problem, buy the defenders device on amazon, Use it on the problem area and your problem will go away. It also protects our pond from herons so its doing two jobs at once.
I let the dogs out if one is visiting my plot and also if handy use the hose they still persist so I mainly net off anything I hope to eat , as for a device I think you would need something to cover a large area. Most of my neiboughs have cats so theres often anew one around so just have to live with it.I'll have a look at the defender on amazon as at £20 is worth a go for a result.
