Climber for Pot, partial shade

MawbsMawbs Posts: 13

Hi all, I have a trellis that is adjacent to our house.  It only gets partial sun.  I've tried clematis and didn't have success, can't remember the variety.  Apart from clematis, any suggestions.  I think it needs to be very hardy.   Any help hugely appreciated.  I would love a rose, but would one survive??

Madame Alfred carriere should thrive- if the trellis has space for it.

Just train new growth horizontally to form a framework.

Rosa ' little rambler' is a cracker.

Semi double flowers but no where near as vigorous as Alfred carrier.

Clematis alpina should be fine. Just fork in some compost, plant the clematis 10 cm deeper than it is in the pot. Keep watered for the first summer.

Clematis armandii and clematis Montana are also viable.

Clematis thrive in all kinds of conditions. I'd give another one a go. And just keep it well watered and slug free.

Although scented roses , such as the two I've suggested are good enough to be in any garden.

    You'll need a big pot!

Pyracantha or cotoneaster would look good too.
