Verdun I do not leave the roots in over the winter, I clear the run and make a bean trench to fill up with kitchen waste ( not meat or bones ) to be ready for the next year.
so no problem putting new seeds in when the time is right.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
