rose leaves

Hi All

http://s4.gardenersworld.com/forum/images/post-top-left.png?version=10543427958

Now I have a rosa Grace auskeppy which is very nice however it does seem to produce branches with 7 leaves on but not from the base as you would expect a sucker to produce in fact one branch which forms a Y shape one part of the Y has five leaves the other has 7 !!.

Now its not really a problem but would really like to know if anyone can explain or indeed has similar issues,

many thanks mike

It's a myth that roses with 7 leaflets on are suckers!

Many ramblers and other types of roses naturally have 7 leaflets (sometimes more, sometimes less) - I once knew a widow who dug out her late husband's pride and joy (Rosa glauca) in the mistaken belief that it had 'gone wild'. image  I didn't have the heart to explain ......
