Grey moths & black flies
I had an infestation of strange grey-white small moths or flies over winter in and around my compost bin, and storage area round it. They disappeared in about March but then replaced by flies with black body and clear wings. They seem to be living in stored bags of open compost as well.
Any ideas what it could be welcome, whether they will affect plants and how to get rid of it.

Hi Pansyface, yes we normally get a lot of fruitflies, and leave them well alone, but thus feels very different as there are clouds of these things making every visit to the compost bin challenging! Also i had to put the greenhouse quite close to the bin this year (will move ASAP) whilst we're sorting the garden out, and they are in there too, my ssedlings are def not doing very well. I'm wondering whether it's fungus gnat which affects plant roots. Hey ho, we will move it soon and hopefully will be able to leave well alone as you say!
