Why is it that all my crown imperial bulbs never flower, they have good foliage and I follow planting instructions to the T! but never have any luck

I only get 50% success with them in this garden - in a previous garden they were in a confined well drained stone-sided bed in full sun and they were very crowded and quite shallowly planted - they bloomed their socks off.
I'm trying to reproduce those conditions, but I just don't have a spot that gets sun all day.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hi there I grow mine each year in pots and every year the flower beautifully. Never grown them in the garden. All I suffer from is Lily Beatles, which are quickly introduced to a size 8 boot.

Thanks for all the help. I do grow mine in tubs as 3/4 of my garden is tarmac with just two narrow borders. I have 3 in a tub that is abut 10 across, so will lea\ve them and fingers crossed for next year.
I also have another query,I had a chocolate vine growing last year it was fantastic but over the winter has died.
