Nepeta variegated
the huge amouts of variegated nepeta i bought last year as ground cover have really taken off. They dont look brilliant in winter, but they have expanded over big areas and choke weeds out.
id like to dig some up now and get it to colonise other areas. Do you think just digging, pulling it apart a bit, spreading out and planting would work, or do i need to plant up into pots first?

A word of warning from one who has learned the hard way - if your compost heap doesn't get hot enough to kill it off when you trim it back, you will have variegated nepeta for Africa!
I agree with Verdun on potting up pieces first.
I have a lots of bare soil and appreciate every bit of ground cover i can get. It has done very well in pretty poor soil, so im happy.
