bulbs dieing back for next year
Hi I have a few tubs and some daffs and hyacinths are finishing now and would like to store them round the corner and just feed them there for the 5 weeks or so as they brown, and I can make room for more space and other things where they were. Are they OK with just general light during this process of storing for next year, as they had access to full sun while growing and flowering.
Many Thanks

That's what I do - put them in a quiet shady corner, water and feed them and let them die off, then repot in fresh compost in September.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I pick the whole lot, bulbs and compost out of the pot and put them in anything I have buckets, old compost sacks, just make holes for drainage. I leave mine there till next september, but you can crumble the soil off and store them in a box in the shed.
Thanks dovefromabove this hot weather even browning off the early tulips , least weathers on the change clouding over in Manchester rain on the way
i have read the above but not sure if i'm understanding correctly. do you mean that instead of waiting the 5/6 weeks for the daffs & tulips to die down in situ in pots and the ones in garden, i can dig them out and plant them somewhere out of the way to die down so i can get on with planting other things in their place ? thank you in advance
I have them in pots and tubs in the garden but have moved them down the drive out of the way to free up space and move up pots of plants that are there so they have more room and it looks nice. Just wanted to know on light issues really for die back can they cope with just the regular day light rather than full on sunshine
Yes, I'd like to second what sanjy67 asks. Can you dig them out now and store them elsewhere?
I also am confused about tulips. Is it worth keeping them when they're in pots? Will they flower another year or should I dig them out and discard after flowering?
And if I plant tulips in the ground next year, will they come up the following year or do I have to dig them up?
Thanks
Yes Sanjy, put them anywhere to die down. If you have any old containers yo can stick them behind the shed or garage. As long as you leave the soil round them.
Tulips are never so good next year but you can plant them in the garden in November, you may get some up, and if you are really keen you can pot up all the little bulblets and bring them on for flowering in about 3 years time.
Don't know what the confusion is there in pots I want to move them and keep them in the pots and have them out the way round the corner and move and tidy the area they were in
