Bells of Ireland

Hi all, would anyone be familiar with the hardy annual Bells of Ireland? Any advice on how to grow from seed?

I've grown them, they germinated easily enough but I think my garden is  too dry for them to look really good. I think you can sow direct but I did mine in pots, no heat.

  • Thanks nutcutlet, I've just ordered some seeds so I'll do them in pots first as they'll probably get lost in my garden.

I may be wrong, but I thought that they were not hardy.

How can you lie there and think of England

I thought they were but maybe not Pd, I've never put them to the test. Cold GH end of March/April plant out in May and it's all over by the first frost.

  • I received an email from GW and that's how I discovered this plant and decided to order some seeds. This is the link http://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/moluccella-laevis/1177.html

Here it's listed as a hardy annual. I'll give them a try and let you know the progress.
