Lilly beatles
On the war path with these Red Lilly Beatles the warm weather has brought them out had a killing spree today 14 in total, with 5 on one of the larger Fritillaria. Where do these bugs live and do they just attack Lilies and Fritillaria

Hi James, if you don't object to using sprays Bayer bug clear applied at regular intervals does keep them away.Goodness knows where they come from though and in our garden they only attacked the lilies.I expect you know to look under the leaves where they lay the eggs?
Those are the only two plants they lay their eggs on. They overwinter in the soil, piles of leaves and any debre around the garden, which isn't, necessarily near your lillies.
I changed the compost in my pots last week and was reliably informed by another poster this will not make any difference
.
They also fly
.
Thanks for the info bit of a blood bath today remember Montys tip just to pick them of and squash them.
Just found a great little youtube clip:

I gave up having lillies in my garden in the end!
The little blighters destroyed every one of my lillies (they don't touch anything else) and it is a full time job if you want to go out and pick the bugs off.
