What´s in a rose?

DimWitDimWit Posts: 553

I´ve bought  two unnamed roses (first two pictures) that do not have leaves

similar to the usual hybrid teas in the garden (one of them is in the third picture).

Are they a "shrub rose"? These are not very common where I live, so I wonder

if they are newcomers?

The third one is , in fact, red! But I have yellow and orange hybrid teas whose

leaves are all red like this, and not bronze like those I recently bought.

Roses don't all have the same leaves, some are red when young, some bronze, some green, some quite big, others smaller, some tough looking (like Rosa Rugosa), some looking tender. New leaves don't look the same as old leaves either.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

That´s the point. Roses are hybrids from many species, and it seems that

traditional hybrid tea roses all have young red leaves. So my new ones are

NOT hybrid teas, but hybrids of another sort (knows not what).
