North west facing front garden

AHRAHR Posts: 361

hi

I have a small border i would like to plant into. It's roughly 2.5m from house to street path and 1m from next doors border to garden path so it's not a big space.

the house is North west facing and only get a bit of direct sun from about 5-6 o'clock till 7-8 o'cloc.

the soil is full of clay and sand eventually deep down.

I am currently looking for shrubs and other plants to plant hear, I would like to fill the border of plants but not to high so it is obstructing next doors view and garden.

Can anyone recommend some colourfu flowers and nice shrubs preferred evergreen to go in this border. I currently have some bay trees in this space and a holly bush that have both done well.

i am more than happy to put some work into improving the soil and after care but my back garden takes most of my time.

thanks for all your help

Thanks I do love daphnes, rhododendrons, and azaleas

  • Fuchsias can be kept quite tame and can add a burst of colour, although not evergreen. They have always done well in my front garden, the configuration is very similar to your description.
