Cutting Back Dead Wood
in Plants
The above tree in my garden has fallen over at some point in the past. It does go into leave but quite weakly. There are various branches on it that either have no leaves on, or just have a small bud or just one small twig that has leaves on it. My question is; should I cut off these 'dead' branches, or will they recover and come back into leaf?

I doubt if things will improve. Do you actually want it leaning over your lawn?
In the sticks near Peterborough
I'd remove that tree, a big wind may take it anyway and and as nut said do you want it leaning like that?.
Regardless of whether or not it's an asset to the garden what are people's thoughts on cutting back the dead wood? Are these leafless twigs likely to come back to life?
Cut off any and all branches that are dry and papery under the bark. If it's still green under the bark, they might grow back depending on the damage to the roots. I'd cut it down to the stump and see if it shoots from there.
