Have bought some calla lilies on an impulse - one is a plant with leaves called Flame, the others are knobbly corms called Picasso. Does anyone have any tips for growing them please?
arh you have just reminded me of the name of the nobbly bulb i planted in my pots that the fox dug up last night, i couldn't for the life of me remeber so thank you, i planted mine last year and apart from a few roots left from it's digging up it hasn't grown yet, the undisturbed one hasn't done anything either so i'm not much help to you
They are easy to grow, pot them up and feed and water them during the summer, in autumn set them to one side and keep them dry, literally, no water at all frost free and in the following spring repot and start again. Very easy to grow.
Take care how you feed when you start watering again in Spring each year.
First year I just used normal houseplant feed and got too much foliage and no flowers. Since then I've used tomato feed and got a good balance of flowers to leaves.

Just had a Calla Lily given to us as a present. Been told we can either put it in the garden or keep it indoors. We don't know anything about this plant, can anyone advise please?
Feed it well, water often but do not let it stand in water. It will need to be stored frost free over winter and dry, so if you plant it outside now, dig it up in Autumn, like you would a dahlia.
Thanks for the tip about tomato feed Bee Witch. I always get loads of foliage and very few flowers, so will start the tomato feeding. Just driven to Thornbury (Avon) and passed a garden just choc a bloc with masses of lovely, huge white callas. Mine are just a mass of leaves.
