At least you'll be able to sniff that one out while you're disbudding your fritillarias!

My hand weeding fork has a bright girly-pink handle and my secateurs are orange and yellow. My garden knife is bright red. The idea is that the handles stand out in the border so I never lose them.

    Guess what? - Doesn't work!

Some days it seems I spend nearly as long looking for things I had 'just a minute ago' as I do actually working. I too have gardening caddy which keeps things all neat and  tidy in the shed but is just there to trip over when I'm working.

I am going to invent a mini tag to attach to garden tools that emits a little tune (whatever!) when activated from a key ring fob to help me find stuff. I am going to take it on Dragon's Den and become a millionaire ......

You could tie them to you coat with elastic. Apparently it works for mittens.

I am frequently to be found upside down in the "green bin" searching for ; well usually my secateurs (ancient and much loved) and if not these my trowel or fork. I always try to remind myself not to put them in my trug whilst weeding or some such activity but within moments of getting out into my garden have forgotten this advice so absorbed am I with the business in hand!  Being quite short and depending on the depths I have to scrabble to I can almost disappear although I have yet to completely fall in. Perhaps I should not have had that thought. Ahh! Happy Daysimage

I sometimes hang them on a branch . This extends the search area considerably!

b3 i think you could be right about sniffing them out, my OH came home this afternoon and as he was going out of the gate he said " it really smells of cannabis around here" i could be in trouble when the police pitch up in their favourite speed trap space outside my gate image

Sanjy - try putting a short cane in to mark where you have planted bulbs and yes, label too.   Then you'll know to be careful when weeding and planting in spring.
