ID please

I wondered if this a hydrangea.  This is my 3rd Spring here and the plant pictured below hasn't done anything much since I first untangled it from the undergrowth.

    Thin out some of the weakest shoots, give it a good mulch with compost and a feed.

    Thank you Hostafan - will do.  Can you tell what sort, mophead or lacecap?  I hope it's a lacecap, I prefer them image

    not at this stage, sorry. They both look pretty similar now.

    Ok, it's dryish where it is so a few buckets of water it shall get in the summer image  Fingers crossed for lacecap.
