Another ??

Hi all,

You managed to i.d. my last ?, now onto pastures new (pun intended)

This started growing in my garden almost 2 years ago, this one in the ground and a smaller version (maybe) close by in a half barrel.

Both are in-between bird feeding staions so I presume thats the way they arived. This one in the photo's just seems to get bigger as time goes by but the other (if it is the same) is no-where near as big.

Just leaves, No flowers or stems either last year or showing any early signs of doing anything different this year..... so far!

Anyone have an idea what it is?

It looks a bit  like a mullein to me. Probably one of the ones that produces a spike of yellow flowers. I think its Latin name is Verbascum not sure which species.

  • Thanks Mobow, looks like you've done it.

Apart from the width found on a few sites everything else looks right. 'My' plant is already 32" (80+cm) accross. So I'm hoping for some flowers this year. Was thinking of digging it up, but for now its had a reprieve.
