Lots of plants to store

I know its a bit early to talk about the fact that we are having our garden re-designed in September, but I want to get myself organised as I want to try to hang on to alot of the items I already have in the garden. As the whole garden is being done I will not have anywhere to hold any plants. They will all have to be stored in trays or pots.

Tulips, daffs and bluebells, shall I dig them up as soon as they all finish or leave it til later? Also do I pot them up, or dry them and leave them in trays in the shed? I'm very much a hands off gardener, I've never lifted bulbs corms or anything else for that matter I normally just leave them all to their own devices but this time I can't! This is a conversation that is going to go on and on as I am likely to be asking such questions about all my plants as the seasons go on. So thank you now to anyone who has the patience to keep helping me!

Leave them until the leaves have died down then dig them up. This will give them a chance to rebuild their strength for flowering next year. You can replant them in the Autumn.
  • Thanks Ceres. Shall I put them in a box as they are when I've dug them up, or should I put them in pots in compost?

Just store them in a box in a dry cool place, if possible.
