GARRYA ELLIPTICA 'James Roof'

I recently had a fence replaced and had to move the garrya temporarily; it was out of the ground for about an hour. FBB was added when I re-planted and I've watered regularly since then (about four weeks).    The leaves are now looking limp and curling - should I add liquid feed, continue with the watering regime and hope it will recover -  or replace it?

The plant has been in place for just a couple of years and has made good growth although I understand I may have to wait some time for the catkins to appear - hope with your help to keep it going.

Many thanks.

Did you dig out a very large rootball?  Was the plant put back at the exact same level? It seems strange it's only now, a month later, that you are having wilt problems.  Hopefully someone has experience they can share.

It could be that the rootball is now too small to support the top growth so maybe cutting the plant back a bit will help. You don't say which part of the country you are in, but the south has had some very warm weather the past couple of weeks so if you are lucky enough to be basking in sunshine, maybe the plant is finding it a bit too much to cope with after the recent upheaval. Don't feed the plant yet. It has to re-establish itself first.

Thank you for your replies. - the workmen dug out the root but I  saw it back into place and added feed and plenty of water - perhaps the root ball was not large enough?  Today the leaves are really dry and curling and I fear the worst.  I shall trim it back and see if that helps.  I'm in Berkshire and the garden is badly in need of rain - perhaps my watering regime has been insufficient.

It seems my question appeared twice and so I thank everyone who answered both 'threads'.
