Tomato plants
in Fruit & veg
My tomato plants have been put outside during the day for nearly a week now. Is it too early to put them in the greenhouse? The GH vents will be closed ditto the door.

Can't understand why you have put them outside before putting them in the GH
usually it would be the other way I have both GH and outside plants but are all still in the greenhouse the vent opens during the day but they still need protection .Witson bank holiday is the earliest mine have ever gone outside .
Hi Fishy. You didn't say if they are indoor or outdoor plants but mine are indoor and I put some in the greenhouse last week (night and day) and they are fine so I have now put them all in the greenhouse. However, I live in Cornwall and the nights have been fairly mild also I still have bubble wrap up. Vents open in the day, closed at night.
If you have plenty, why not put 1 or 2 plants in the greenhouse for a few nights and see if they're ok? If you lose them you will know it's too early and you can wait a few weeks before putting the rest out there.
Hi guys - many thanks for your answers. This is the second time I've grown tomato plants and the first from seed. Last year I was given some young plants but this year I grew them all from seed. They started off on the kitchen window sill, then were put outside during the day and brought back into the kitchen at night.
I suppose I should have alternated between the GH and outside rather than the kitchen
Anyway, they are in the GH tonight with newspaper laid over them and will be grown on in there with maybe one set outside.
Fishy, it's all down to temperatures. There's a discussion about it here.
Thank you Italophile
