RATS

CAN ANYBODY HELP US PLEASE.  WE HAVE A MUM AND 4 BABY RATS (QUITE BIG BABIES NOW) WHO COME INTO OUR GARDEN EVERY NIGHT AT 6PM DEAD ON.

THEY HAVE EATEN ALL HUBBY`S SNAKE HEADS,TULIP BULBS,BLUE BELL BULBS.

I HAVE TRIED TOBASCO SAUCE,CHILLI POWDER,CAYENNE PEPPER AND EVERY ALL 3.  THEY DON`T LIKE THE TASTE OF ANY OF THEM BUT THEY STILL COME BACK NEXT DAY.

I HAVE A VERY OLD DOG SO I DON`T WANT TO POISON THEM.  HAS ANYBODY GOT ANY IDEAS BEFORE I GET THE LOCAL COUNCIL IN TO DEAL WITH THEM.

The council will use poison anyway so I suggest you put poison sachets down at night and take away any that are uneaten in the morning before you let the dog out.   Repeat till rats gone.

If you see these there are more ide the poison in an old bit  drainpipe so the dog can't get at it , but I would get the council to see where the nest is

That's just the one you see! image  There will be others. You can buy pet-proof bait boxes and the bait to put in them on the internet, but to be honest you might as well get the experts in.  They'll use pet-proof boxes too.

    Good luck image

  • We had rats in our garden, and we found out they was  living in our compost bin near the conifers, we also found holes around that area where they've made tunnels to the bin ,I don't like rats, I'm not frightened of them, We phoned the environment centre who gave us two boxes ,and so far we haven't seen anymore,

I have had rats in my compost bins so I placed wire mesh under the bins. So far no signs of rats.
